FTP Instructions Using Microsoft
FrontPage98
Publishing a Web Page to Your Personal Web Space on JCs
Interactive Systems Server
*Note: These instructions apply only to
personal web pages. If you have a domain hosted
on our server, i.e. www.yourdomain.com, contact us directly
for information pertaining to your web site. When you have
finished designing your personal web page and are ready to
publish it to the Internet, there are a few small details
to remember: 1. The first page that you want people to see
when they go to your web address needs to be saved as index.html.
Be careful to note that this is NOT the same as index.htm.
1. Create your personal web site in FrontPage 98. When you
are satisfied with the results, ensure each page of your web
is saved in Front Page Editor. Close Editor and make sure
FrontPage Explorer is open and shows your web site.
2. Click on the Publish button (second from the
left just under the main menu.) A box appears titled Publish.
Click the button titled More Webs. In the next
box that appears, type in http://jcis.net/~" then
click the OK button. NOTE: Do not type in the
quotation marks in these examples.
3. The next box asks for the FTP server name. Type in jcis.net.
For the Directory Path, type in a forward slash /.
4. Enter your username and password that you use to connect
to jcis.net in the next box and click the Finish
button.
5. Your new personal web site will now be transferred to
our server over the next few seconds.
