ISDN is a high-speed, fully digital telephone service. Just as compact discs have made recorded music digital, ISDN upgrades today's analog telephone network to a digital system.
ISDN can operate at speeds up to 128 kilobits/second, which is five or more times faster than today's analog modems.
ISDN (Integrated Services Digital Network) is an all-digital communications network capable of speeds up to 128k bps, more than 4 times as fast as 33.6k bps modems.
ISDN is as easy to use as analog but offers much more! For example, you can utilize the two 64 kbps B-channels as individual voice and data lines at the same time. You can use one channel to talk while you're using the second to send data files. Or, with ISDN's bonding capability, you can combine both lines into a single high-speed 128 kbps link for dependable transmission.
Because ISDN most often uses existing copper wires, your home or office may not need to be rewired. If you don't already have ISDN, the phone company may install a new wall jack when your service is connected.
ISDN connections are made almost instantly - typically less than a second - unlike analog modems and analog lines which can require 30 to 60 seconds before any data can be transmitted.
Because it is an all digital service, ISDN offers near-perfect line quality that's far superior to analog, and line conditions will never force you to fall back to a slower speed.
